The Official Manual

A LANCLAN PUBLICATION

Preface

Revolt is a medium paced first person shooter game.  Putting a strong emphasis on using the weapon's sites, Revolt's arsenal just feels right in modern day combat settings.  Each weapon has it's own accessories for customization and can be adjusted to your particular needs.  The recoil is a bit higher on most weapons than what you may be accustomed too with regular Call of duty, but surely add to an overall satisfying experience once mastered.

This guide is to inform you, the player, on the current feature set and how to harness it.  We will list the features in summary then reiterate in detail throughout this manual.  You can find additional information about Revolt at www.codmod.com or www.lanclan.com.

Revolt Game Types

To help filter out Revolt Servers, all game types have a REV_ prefix.  We were unable to remove the "stock" game types from Revolt because they are hard coded into the source, which we have no right to modify.  If you end up launching a "stock" game type, you will be notified with a menu letting you know that the game type is unsupported.  Here are the supported game types and their respective objectives:

Revolt Team Elimination

REV_TE:  Team Elimination is just like it sounds.  It basically started out as a Search and destroy game type and continues to manifest into it's own type.  We initially made this game type to take advantage of our smaller maps to have a very simple objective, eliminate the opposition.  This game type is round based and satisfies the get in and get out players.

Revolt Seek and Destroy

REV_SD:  Seek and Destroy capitalizes on the, already great, Stock version of SD.  Many effects and some minor changes were made to fit Revolt and the modern day settings.  One team defends two locations while the other team has to plant a bomb and ensure it detonates at one of those locations.

Revolt Team Death Match & Death Match

REV_TDM:  Just a frantic quick paced, pile up the bodies of the opposition team game mode.

REV_DM:  All out, every man for themselves, bloody mess.  Most kills wins the game.

Revolt Weapons

The Revolt arsenal is tailored to effectiveness at different distances.  There are 3 categories these weapons fall under and do overlap onto each other in terms of attributes.  Be warned, Revolt weapons do not feel like Call of Duty and the defensive and attack strategy is in a realm of its own.  Give the weapons time; you’ll get good with them, then unstoppable.

  1. Close Range:  These weapons are for in your face action and work well for spraying at close range, however their damage as well as their effectiveness in a distance drops drastically.

  1. Medium Range:  These weapons fire well at distances up to 500 feet.  Moving and spraying is very inaccurate.  Crouch walking will give you strict accuracy with 1st shot being directly on your target while in full auto as each shot is affected by weapon recoil.  Stopping and sighting your target before mounting your offensive is the key with these weapons.  Do not be overly anxious, you will find your self in a lying puddle of sorrow.

  1. Long Range:  These weapons are most and pretty much only effective at greater distances.  The Long Range Weapons have very high recoil and some weigh you down quite a bit.  It’s a pretty trade off for high damage on impact and pin point accuracy.

Weapon Distribution/Descriptions

Resistance:

1.  The Uzi

The IMI Uzi is about the most common Sub-Machine gun, next to the MP5 series. The weapon is simple, and is regarded as a large full-auto pistol. Which, in a sense, is exactly what it is. With a very high rate of fire, very low recoil, its downside is the 9x19mm rounds, which are not very effective. The weapon is extremely deadly and powerful in close quarters situations.  The alt mode switch on the weapon will let you accessorize to a silencer for sneaky infiltration.

2.  The AK74 with accessories

The AKS-74U is the AK47’s younger brother. The weapon is compact, and light. But it is less accurate then the AK47. To make up for it, the rate of fire on the AKS-74U is higher, making it an idea mid to short range weapon. Chambered with Norinco 5.45x39mm rounds, the weapon is reliable and the best way to drop someone with a few rounds quickly.

3.  The AK47 with accessories

The AK47 is chambered with 5.45x39mm Norinco rounds. High velocity, high accuracy. Though this variant is somewhat rare, it makes it more of a match with the M16A4. It has lower recoil then the classic AK47. A bayonet, red dot scope, or a mini-scope can be attatched to the weapon to further extend it’s uses. The AK47 is a wonderful all around weapon, capable of engaging targets at some range.

4.  The G3A3 with accessories

The G3A3 is a very high powered 7.62x51mm NATO chambered weapon. It is very common around the world because it is cheap, yet effective. The high damage the weapon deals comes with a lot of recoil, making the weapon

fairly hard to control. The G3A3 can be equipped with a Bayonet, Mini-Scope or a Full scope. The G3A3 Comes

stock with a Red Dot Scope.

5. The Tariq

Iraq's version of the Beretta, used in Iraqi police forces, the weapon is also very easy to acquire, hence, very common. The weapon is virtually identical to the Beretta 92FS, with a 15 round magazine, and firing 9x19mm rounds.

6.  The P99

A high grade pistol, with unique looks, its solid design makes it one of the most reliable 9mm pistols, and a favorite in personal collectors. It fires 9mm rounds with a 15 round magazine like most other full sized 9mm pistols, though heavier then most, its quite accurate.

Aggression:

1.  The Mp5

The Heckler & Koch MP5A4 is the most common sub machine gun used by first world countries. The MP5 series is considered the most accurate and most effective sub machine guns ever. Firing 9x19mm rounds, which aren't extremely powerful, they make up for it with high rate of fire. The weapon is very light and maneuverable, and is ideal for people who care about their speed.  The alt mode switch on the weapon will let you accessorize to a silencer for sneaky infiltration.

2.  The M4 with accessories

The M4A1 is a light compact version of the M16A4. It is still a very accurate weapon chambered with 5.56x45mm NATO rounds. The weapon is deadly, and with a high rate of fire, it can lay down a strong base of fire in most situations. The M4A1 can have a bayonet, red dot, or silencer attachment.

3. The M16 with accessories

The M16A4 is the bigger brother of the M4A1. It is longer, and heavier, but chambers the same ammunition, 5.56x45mm NATO. It packs a hard punch, and a few well placed shots from the weapon from just about anywhere

will show the true effectiveness of the weapon. A bayonet, red dot scope, or mini-scope can be attached to

the M16A4.

4.  The M14 with accessories

The M14 is an old weapon, derived from the M1 Garand, and the M1 Carbine, the weapon has very similar features. Aggressive recoil, very powerful rounds, high accuracy, and heavy weight. The weapon is best at longer ranges and fired one round at a time. the M14 comes with a red dot scope, which makes it much easier to aim, especially at mid ranges.

5. The M9

The Beretta 92FS is one of the most common 9mm pistols in the US military and police forces. Features a 15 round magazine, the weapon is reliable, very accurate and fits comfortably into the hands of most people. Easy to use and effective.

6.  The GLOCK

The Glock 19 has shown its uses in light weight and compact design time and time again. Very reliable, though not one of the most accurate 9mm pistols, it has a 15 round magazine. Don't let the boxy design fool you, this weapon is quite deadly.

Revolt Accessories Revolt Map Weapons
1.  The Silencer

The silencer suppresses sound and the flash, keeping that sharp bang and flash of light out of the enemy's sight. Allows the weapon to be completely unheard at medium to long distances, giving a distinct advantage.

3.  The Red Dot Scope

The red dot attachment is a holographic sight, that replaces iron sights, giving you a clearer view of what you are aiming at.

3.  The Mini Scope

The mini-scope adds a short zoom to your weapon, allowing you to engage targets more clearly at longer ranges. Though, making engaging targets at mid range is somewhat more difficult.

4.  The Full Scope

The full-scope attachment adds a long zoom to your weapon, making it a capable sniper rifle. Though, harder to control and stay steady then with a mini-scope, the full-scope lets you see those people laying down in dark corners much easier.

5.  The Bayonet

The ultimate weapon for melee combat. Adds much more damage, allowing a kill regardless of location hit, as well as lower delay before hitting your target. The bayonet is perfect for those who like getting up close an personal with their friends.

1.  The RPG

The RPG is exact in attributes compared to the Call of Duty Panzerfaust except we removed the cross hair to encourage using the sites.

2.  The Dragunov Sniper Rifle

The Dragunov is a legend, much like the AK47. The Dragunov is chambered with 7.62x54mm rounds, which have a bit more punch then the NATO 7.62x51mm rounds. This weapon is extremely accurate, and simple to operate. With a 10 round magazine, with semi-auto fire, it can prove to be a very deadly weapon in the right hands. The Dragunov has heavier recoil then most weapons, yet it packs a punch, with a nice large scope to boot.

Revolt Maps

These maps, or levels, are tailored to the middle eastern conflict of Revolt.  Each map is based on fictional events and must not be confused with "real" conflicts current, past or present.

IRAQ

These maps were designed for the Coalition VS. Insurgency with their current weapon selection.

Sadr City

Sadr City:  Deep in the heart of Al Sadr City, the Aggression finds coordinates of illegal weapons storage hidden in civilian houses.  Destroying the contents and securing the perimeter will ultimately push the lines of battle and put a face on the enemy.  The Resistance plan to defend against the attack long enough to transport the weapons to another location.

Hizabala City

Hizabala City:  Cell#1 launched a massive offensive against political figures hurting and killing Iraqi civilians at Hizabala.  The Resistance plans to destroy an apartment building and palace that houses key political figures in the newly inducted democratic government.  The Aggression scrambles to bring stability to the area and must eliminate the threat.  While the Resistance must complete their objective no matter who gets killed along the way.

Mud District

This map was designed as a tribute to Dust2.  The layout is very loosely based on that and was given a Revolt touch.

Mud District:    While the Marines struggle to bring stability over at Hizabala City, Another team was sent to the outskirts of Baghdad to a small district where intelligence discovered an American wrecked Apache helicopter was being stored and prepped for sale on the black market.  As a Marine, the objective is to destroy the Apache with concentrated explosives and the disguised communications building used by Cell 1.  Cell 1 gathered a small army to protect their valuable prize and stop Aggression occupancy.

Mud District Night

Mud District Night:  After a long battle throughout the day, the Aggression discovered an underground tunnel system that the Resistance was using to smuggle arms and prolong their counter attack.  The Aggression, in Retaliation, blasted their way into the back alleys to flank the Resistance.  The battle continues with an expanded perimeter as the Resistance plans to destroy civilian areas to scare off the Aggression occupancy.

Infiltration

Infiltration:  While the battle to secure Baghdad continues, A recon drone was shot down over what was supposed to be secured airspace.  A small team was sent to recover the debris and  finds an underground network of illegal arms storage.  As a marine your objective is to blow the bunker at 1 of 2 key points to destroy and expose the facility completely.  As a resisting soldier, you must stop the aggressive force from taking your operations down.

Old City

This Benjamin Bauer contributed map, from Navy Seals q3a mod, was totally overhauled to fit Revolt.

Old City:    A sporadic battle begins in a city east of the Tigris with an oil pipeline running through it’s heart.  The resistance plans to bring terror to the aggression occupancy, while the aggression must secure the city from terrorist activity.

Industrial Park

Another Benjamin Bauer contributed map, was also redone for Revolt.

Industrial Park:  This area lies deep in a city where weapons are manufactured and shipped to well funded organizations through black market trades.  The U.N's discovery of these weapons lead to a decision to cease the facilities and occupy the territory.  An underground network has issued a plan to destroy the facility and the new occupants ridding certain evidence of their existence.

Desert Ruins

Another map by Benjamin Bauer, this map is huge!

Desert Ruins:   On the road to Baghdad, Marines discovered an old archeological digging site with barrels of chemicals and boxes of assembled detonators.  The Marines were ordered to occupy the site until transport and the investigative team arrived.  The Resistance is Aggressive here!  They have strict orders to destroy the evidence and exterminate the Marines before their cover is blown wide open.

Corporate Siege

A map by CHK Cobra, this map is awesome!

CorpSiege:   The Resistance has made it past the front gates into the Aggression's main communications building.  Their main objectives are to, destroy the generator in the basement cutting off all of the power to the building, or to detonate explosives on the servers located near the east wing of the building.  The Aggression has to defend their communications building maintaining a direct link with other coalition units for efficient intelligence transfers during the war against terror.

Basrah

Basrah:   Insurgence have seized the city of Basrah during the Coalition infiltration into Baghdad.  Basrah among a hand full of other cities are controlled by Resisting forces using shrines for shielding and civilians for undermining Aggression penetration.  As an Aggressive force to take control of this situation, you must plant and detonate explosives at one of two key locations.  One, a small building containing chemical agents, or second, a headquarters being portrayed as a religious shrine.  The resistance must hold the lines and defend these two locations.

Ramadi

Ramadi:   This city is on the verge of being Coalition controlled after a smooth night time infiltration to the city's mid-town.  The Resisting Insurgency has quietly retreated to regroup in an abandoned building to plan an explosive attack against the new occupants.  Two cells have been summoned to detonate a cargo truck holding explosive materials and a hotel housing members of the interim government.  As a soldier of the coalition, your job is to maintain the peace in the city and be on the look out for any foul play.

LAN Maps

These LAN maps were designed during early testing phases for weapon physics solidifying.  They play well on small servers and are great for LAN parties.  We wrote the Revolt Team Elimination game type and included the accessory reward system for team orientation.  TDM and DM are supported as well.

Cage Match

Cage Match:  This map is small with a no where to hide atmosphere.  Four framed out two story buildings with roof access is enclosed by a two story fence and gives you the feeling you are in a cage fighting to the bloody end.

Courtyard

Courtyard:  This map is small and dark.  Your team will enter on one side and the opposition on the other.  The courtyard is filled with cover along with two long walkways engulfed will pillars and low light.  Make your way to the opposition's end quietly and take them out as there objective is the same.

Cross Fire

Cross Fire:  Another small map sets you against the opposition across a desert field with only trenches and bunkers for cover.  Aim high and make that first shot count or you'll be sure to loose your edge.

SMG

SMG:  A maze of a newly constructed one story building only leaves you small rooms tied together with doorways and a few short halls.  This map was designed for the 2 lethal smgs showing off how effective they can be at close quarter combat.

Face Off

Face Off:  Snowy, cold and confined, this map is symmetric and perfect for a well balance fight in any game type.

CTF Maps

These CTF maps were designed for symmetric game play.  Each map with the prefix CTF is tailored for capture the flag but can also be played in any other Revolt game type.

Tocu Island

Tocu Island:  This large island is symmetric in form giving each team an equal opportunity to score.  Use the hilly terrain, foliage and your team's help to reach your objective safely.

Supported Stock Maps

We now support all Call of Duty maps with Revolt game types only.

Revolt Teams

The Revolt Teams are always Aggression Vs. Resistance.  New team introductions will be sub to these 2 categories.  Each .X release will feature 2 additional teams for their respective campaigns along with additional weapons to fit specific scenarios.

The Reward System has been removed until the entire system makes more sense and has greater purpose.

REV_TDM, REV_DM and REV_CTF:

The accessories are all available in these game types at the moment.  As we progress in the code base of Revolt, things will change drastically.

STRATEGY TIPS

  1. Work with your team!  Use those radio calls and plan your penetration or defensive strategy.
  2. Revolt is patient and tactical.  Don’t think you’ll run into the pack and spray your way clear.  The weapons are completely random when running and spraying.  Slow your roll and think before you act.
  3. Fake the diffuse or plant.  Heads go up when they hear the bomb being tampered with.  It’s a good way to sucker your opponent into a trap.
  4. Choose your weapon wisely.  Analyze your environment.  Different weapons are more effective on a map by map basis.  If you find yourself getting mowed down  in a corner by some wacko with a close range weapon while trying to snipe him from 5 feet away, obviously you need to rethink your attack strategy.  If you find yourself in a large open map with a close range weapon, you might want to grab something with a scope.
  5. Use the dark.  There are areas that will conceal your body quite well in most maps.  Use those areas and carefully penetrate your objective.
  6. Don’t spray from the hip.  Use your iron sites, they are the only accurate way to attack full auto.
  7. Don’t hide.  If you have an objective to complete, do it.  Do it for your team.
  8. Aim for the head.  Most Revolt weapons are designed to take out your opponent with 1 head shot.  Make your first shot count, you may not get a second.
  9. Get down low.  If your being fired upon and can’t find cover, get down.  You are a much more difficult target that way and your accuracy increases.
  10. Take your time.  The Revolt weapons have tremendous recoil compared to that of Call of Duty.  They will take time to learn and all have their own advantages and tricks to fit different player styles.
  11. Hitting the "M" key will change your weapons mode on select weapons.  Some have special advantages when using this feature.

This is the beginning.  The future belongs to no one.  Join us.  Run with us. Revolt with us!
